The Federal government has taken further steps to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
It has announced the conversion of all the orientation camps of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the country and four stadia to isolation centres for the management of COVID-19.
The stadiums are; Surulere, Ibadan, Abuja and Kaduna which will now be used as isolation centres.
This was disclosed by the Minister for Youths and Sports Dr. Sunday Dare on his Twitter handle.
“Mr. President has approved for the Ministry of Youth and Sports to open and make available the stadiums in Surulere Lagos, Ibadan, Abuja, and Kaduna, as well as our NYSC camps nationwide for use as isolation centers as they are needed. We are in touch with relevant authorities,” Minister of Youth and sports.
Stadiums can be used as testing centres and because of space they will allow for required distancing. Our prayers are that Nigeria never gets to this level – but we must all be prepared to support the system. God bless all our doctors and medical staff at this critical time

The stadiums are huge complexes with many outdoor and indoor areas. Medical personnel and authorities will determine the appropriate areas of usage if and when necessary.
