In a swift turn of events the Lagos State Health Commissioner says the earlier reported positive Corona Virus case of a Chinese Man on board an Ethiopian Airline plane to Lagos tested Negative.
Commissioner Akin Abayomi cleared the air this evening in a press briefing where he said test results shows that although the patient show symptoms similar to the Corona Virus it turn out to be negative.
The First case involving an Italian Man remains the only recorded case in the country. The Patient is said to be stable in quarantine at the Corona Virus facility in Lagos.
Meanwhile the minister for Healthy Osagie Ehanire said the NCDC Boss Chikwe Ihekweazu has gone into a 14 days self quarantine after his return from China to understudy the pattern and behaviour of the Corona Virus COVID-19.
According to the minister, the measure has become necessary in line with the laid down laws put in place to contain the spread of the Virus.
The Minister was speaking when he appeared before the Senate leadership to brief the lawmakers on level of preparedness to tackle Corona virus in Nigeria.
According to him, “NCDC Boss who just came back from China has been Quarantined for 14 days in line with established safety procedure against Corona virus.
Speaking on the level of preparedness, the Minister explained that there are already established Isolation Centers in Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt to respond to any emergency.
The minister said, “We were honored that one of the scientists that WHO had chosen to go to China to study the disease was the DG of NCDC.
“They went there for nine days, during which they carry out investigation. But we have already established rules here that anybody who has been to China will go to self quarantine.
“Chikwe has gone (to China) and come back and has done the test. It’s negative, but we have insisted that he must undergo the 14days of quarantine which is why he was not here today
