The federal government has renewed its appeal to medical practitioners in the nation’s health sector to sustain the relative peace in the sector as the government offers to meet their demands based on the reality that the economy is down and the budget is funded on borrowing.

Speaking at a meeting in Abuja, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige who led the Federal Government team says Nigeria is relying heavily on external borrowing to mitigate the effect of the nation’s dwindling resources.
He explains that the Federal government moved from the five thousand naira hazard allowance it was paying by increasing the junior workers allowance by 350% and Senior workers by 600%.

At the end of a six hour meeting which held behind closed doors at the banquet hall of the Presidential villa, representatives of the medical workers insist that they are going back with the government’s offer as they asked for 2weeks adjournment to enable them reach a decision with their members.
The actual amount offered was however not disclosed.
