President Muhammadu Buhari on has ordered that all public buildings in Nigeria should fly the National flag at half mast for 3 days.
In a statement today, President Buhari also approved a work-free day for members of the Armed Forces tomorrow Monday, May 24.
The statement released by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, further states that the declaration by the President is to honour the memory of late Chief of Staff. Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru and 10 other gallant soldiers that died in a plane crash on Friday.

The statement reads in part:
“To honor the memory and services of the late Chief of Army Staff and other officers, President has authorized that the National Flag should be flown at half-mast in all public buildings, facilities and official residences with effect from 24th to 26th May, 2021.
The President has similarly approved a work free day for members of the Armed Forces on Monday, 24th May, 2021. “
