The Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Ibrahim Attahiru has died in an air crash today while on an official trip to Kaduna.
It was reported that Attahiru’s plane had crashed, killing him and 10 others onboard.
In a statement, the Nigerian Air Force confirmed one of its planes crashed near Kaduna International Airport while Accident Investigation Bureau Commissioner and CEO Akinola Olateru confirmed that there were no survivors.

Conflicting figures saying 7 and 12 people were on board. The Presidency is yet to confirm the actual figure and names of those in the fatal Crash.
About lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru
Attahiru Ibrahim (10 August 1966–21 May 2021) was a Nigerian Army Lieutenant General serving as the 21st Chief of Army Staff of the Nigerian Army since 26 January 2021.
He holds a Masters degree in Strategic Management and Policy Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy. Others include, Masters of Science in Human Resources Management and Development form Salford University in the [[United Kingdom[[ and Graduate Diploma in international Studies from the University of Nairobi, Kenya.

During Ibrahim Attahiru tenure as the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, the Theatre recorded many successes against the insurgents following concerted efforts of troops in the newly-launched Operation DEEP PUNCH 2 and Operation RUWAN WUTA in Sambisa forest.
Some of the operations he led resulted in the killing of two key Boko Haram commanders, Abdu Kawuri and Abubakar Benishek, at Alafa in the Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
However, there’s been several reactions on social media shortly after the news of his death broke.
