The Supreme Court has upheld the election of Simon Lalong of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the March 9, 2019, governorship election.
In its ruling, the seven-man panel of the apex court, led by Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, dismissed the appeal filed by Jeremiah Oseni of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) challenging the election of Lalong.
The panel unanimously ruled that the allegation of substantial non-compliance with the Electoral Act and INEC Guidelines in the election, non-qualification and false information were not proved.
It held that the appeal lacked merit.
Lalong polled 595,585 votes to defeat Useni who polled 546,814 votes in the election.
