Liverpool and Senegal star, Sadio Mane, has won the Confederation of African Football (CAF) African Men’s Player Of The Year Award 2019.
He beat his club teammate & Egyptian forward, Mohammed Salah and Manchester City & Algerian forward, Riyad Mahrez to winner with the top prize.
Mane was rewarded for a stunning year with English premier league side, Liverpool, which saw him score 32 goals in 53 appearances.
He won the Premier League Golden Boot, the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super cup, and Club World Cup. He also won the silver medal at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2019.
Barcelona and Nigeria’s Super Falcons forward, Asisat Oshoala, also picked up the African Women’s Player of the Year award after an outstanding calendar year.
Algeria’s Djamel Belmadi was rewarded for his side’s CAF Africa Cup of Nations victory by being named the African Men’s Coach of the Year, after Desiree Ellis was named the African Women’s Coach of the Year for her South African side’s exploits at the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019.The awards ceremony capped off what was an eventful couple of days in Egypt as several FIFA Legends flew in to join Africa in its celebration of another wonderful year of football.
