Gunmen have shot the traditional ruler of Ewu Ekiti in Ilejemeje local government area of Ekiti State, Adetutu Ajayi.
This was disclosed by the state PPRO, Sunday Abutu who confirmed the ruler of Ewu Ekiti was shot on Friday evening while in transit to Aiyetoro Ekiti.
The monarch is currently receiving treatment at an hospital and the police has vowed to arrest the perpetrators and maintain peace in the state.

However in a press release, the PPRO has condemned the attack on the ruler, hence promising to bring the culprits to book.

Attack on Elewu of Ewu-Ekiti
Despite the rigorous joint patrol, raiding of blackspots and combing of bushes/forests comprising the Amotekun Corps, Vigilante Groups, Local Hunters, Chiefs, Drivers Union, Motorcycle Riders, Farmers and other Stakeholders carried out simultaneously today being 09/04/2021 across the sixteen(16) Local Governments Areas of the State which was aimed at dislodging and apprehending the miscreants in their hideouts as directed by the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, some unknown gunmen mischievously defiled the operation, came out and attacked the ELEWU OF EWU-EKITI, OBA ADETUTU AJAYI while he was on transit between Ewu-Ekiti and Ayetoro-Ekiti at about 1900hrs.

The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, while assuring the general public that the perpetrators will be brought to book, pledges that Ekiti State Police Command shall continue to work with relevant security outfits, Ministries, Stakeholders and Organizations to ensure that criminality is brought to zero across the State, noting that the spirit of Officers of the Command and other supporting agencies and groups still remain high as the operation still continues indefinitely to stamp out the bandits.
While wishing the ELEWU OF EWU-EKITI a quick recovery, the Commissioner implores anyone with useful information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators and other criminal elements in the society to inform the nearest police station or call 08062335577.
