The Minister of State, Budget and National Planning Prince Clem Agba has reiterated his commitment to the service of humanity and the people of Edo state.
He said this at the Joint Reception organised in his honour by Afemai People under the auspices APDA comprising Akoko Edo, Etsako East/West and Owan in the state.
Hon. Clem Agba made it clear that the partway for the people of Edo state is in progress which he says must have a unanimity of purpose and veritable platform for the intercourse of ideas towards the realization of the upliftment of the Afenmai People wherever they are.
Prince Clem also thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for finding him worthy to serve the country as Minister of State for Budget and National planning with the task of working with his Senior Colleague and Minister; Hajiya Zainab Ahmed to return the budget cycle to January December with success.
In his word, “In contextualizing the problems of our country, it has become imperative to seek creative ways to addressing them. We can no longer continue to agonize or lament the past.
I have a duty Ladies and Gentlemen, to share insights on Nigeria’s Medium and Long Term Plans which will ensure the growth and development of our economy.
The administration of President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR has now set the country on the path to economic growth, prosperity and fiscal sustainability. With fewer resources available to this government, it is sustaining a productive and competitive economy.
Going forward, agriculture and agro-based industries, technology and innovation, solid minerals, and our vibrant creative sector will serve as drivers to the new Nigeria of our dreams.”
Following my appointment as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by President Muhhamadu Buhari GCFR, several individuals and groups had indicated their willingness and readiness to organize a reception for me in realization of the fact that I am the first Afemai person since our return to civil democratic Rule to be appointed to a ministerial position since 1999. We owe a responsibility to support this administration for greater gains as Afemai people who have displayed a high sense of inclusion in Nation building.
The nation cannot wish away in a hurry the contributions of the Momoh’s, the Agbazika Innihs, the Mike Akhigbes, the Pa Imoudus, the Obaros, etc to national development. The Afenmai people produced the first female senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Distinguished Senator Franca Afegbua, and the first Nigerian Ambassador to the United Nations.
At this juncture, let me appreciate the President Mohammadu Buhari GCFR for my appointment into his next level cabinet of the All Progressives Party (APC) administration, the first by an Afenmai person since 1999.
My remarks will not be complete without paying special regards to my leader, the indefatigable, the indomitable, the irrepressible National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole mni, CON. He made my appointment possible and I appreciate him specially. We must all commend his insistence that the legacy of a dysfunctional political party system must be reversed and party discipline entrenched.
We all need to support him to succeed and I will continue to deploy my talent, my little resources and my time to support all he is doing to deepen and consolidate our democracy.
