The petition by the Mutual Union of Tiv in America (MUTA) has finally been accepted by the House of Representatives.

The action generated criticism from Nigerians on social media. Furthermore, Nigerians in diaspora in a letter to the Speaker threatened to stop inflow of remittance.
While speaking on the petition, Gbajabiamila said the misunderstanding surrounding the petition had been resolved.
“I believe this is the same petition that has been causing a lot of misunderstanding. The misunderstanding came from the issue of signature.
“Having cleared that misunderstanding, please, go ahead and lay your petition to be given proper attention.”
The petition was, therefore, referred to the House committee on public petition.
