The drivers who angrily blocked the ever-busy Lagos-Benin Expressway after Ofosu, the boundary between Edo and Ondo States at the military checkpoint refused all please to vacate the road.

Our sources revealed that the military at there has practically abandoned their jobs and instead developed the habit of extorting N500 note from tanker driver each and a liter of diesel or PMS from them collected by their proxy who interface regularly with the drivers along the road.

However, efforts to reach the NUPENG President Comrade Williams Eniredonana Akporeha, the General Rasaq, 4th Mechanised Brigade, and Edo State Police Commissioner, Mr. Philip Ogbadu proved abortive as at time of filing this report.

An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity said the drivers are bent on blocking the road until Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State comes to address them before they vacate the road to allow vehicular movement.
