Meanwhile, an advisory committee of the United States’ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had earlier recommended Johnson & Johnson’s coronavirus vaccine for widespread use, a final clearance for the shot after U.S. regulators authorized it on Saturday.
State and local public health authorities will use Food and Drug Administration and CDC guidance as they administer the first four million doses.
Nigeria is expected to receive almost four million doses of the vaccine on Tuesday courtesy of COVAX, a global initiative backed by the World Health Organisation.
Earlier today, the Minister of State for Health, Olorunnimbe Mamora, stated that frontline health workers would be one of the first set of people to get the vaccine.
