There has been yet another Heroic act of bravery by the Police in Katsina State who have rescued eighty-four kidnap victims, mostly Islamiyya schoolchildren, from the hands of bandits in Mahuta village, Dandume Local Government Area of the state.
The DPO Dandume, said he had received a distress call at 11pm Saturday night that some Islamiyya students of Hizburrahim Islamiyya, Mahuta village, numbering about eighty, were attacked while on their way back from Maulud which was being celebrated at Unguwan Alkasim at a distant village.
In a statement released on Sunday by the Police Spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, the bandits were on rampage having kidnapped 4 persons and 12 cows earlier before they launched an attack in Funtua.
On receipt of the report, he said, the DPO led Operations “Puff Adder,” Sharan Daji and Vigilante Group to the area and engaged the bandits into a fierce gun duel.
“Subsequently, the teams succeeded in dislodging the bandits and rescued all the 84 kidnapped victims and recovered all the 12 rustled cows.
The police has since launched a search active force to fish out the bandits dead or alive according to the spokesman.
