Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila will today (Wednesday) lead a delegation comprising Members of the house on a visit to Japan.
Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Speaker, Lanre Lasisi said this in a statement on Tuesday.
According to his Statement, the visit, will last 5 days from November 6 to 11. The visit of the Nigerian Legislators is upon an invitation to the Speaker by the Japanese House of Representatives.
The visit aims to facilitate an exchange between the Nigerian House of Representatives and its Japanese counterpart while it explores avenues for both Parliaments to deepen friendly relations and mutual understanding for Nigeria and Japan.
During the visit, the Speaker, accompanied by some members of the House, is expected to meet with the Japanese Prime Minister, the House of Councillors’ President, the Speaker of the Japanese House of Reps and observe the Japanese House of Representatives plenary.
Similarly, the Speaker and members of the delegation are to attend a luncheon hosted by the Japan-Nigeria Parliamentary League of Friendship, visit the Future Creation Hub and the Japanese External Trade Organisation as well as a tour of Tokyo, among other engagements.
Other members of the delegation include Rep Babajimi Adegoke Benson, Rep Henry Okon Archibong, Rep Muktar Mohammed Ahmed, Rep Jaafar Abubakar Magaji and Rep Abass Adekunle Adigun.
The Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation NIDO Guangzhou Chapter in China Festus Mbisiogu who is also the CEO Blue Diamond, China, was recently awarded a Phylantrophy award categorised “Blessings of Africa Award’ at the sidelines of the United Nations 74th General Assembly in New York.
He said that the spirit of rebranding Nigeria should also extend to China where many Innocent Nigerians are jailed for alleged crimes they didn’t commit.
Nbisiogu referenced the incident earlier in the year of the killing of a Nigerian pastor in China.
Speaking to Control TV, he said “Pastor Joseph Nwachueze, from Anambra State who died in China in a yet to be resolved case will soon be brought back home for burial rites.”
The Chinese authority have promised to investigate an alleged attempt to capture the Nigerian pastor, through the means of electronic gadgets when he died.
Mbisiogu said Nigerians living in China believe that the Just government of President Buhari in focusing on its citizens in China will give a great sense of connectivity back home with huge investment potentials.
He urged the House of Representatives to in the same vein consider acting swiftly on the plight of Nigerians in China, by inter -phasing with their Chinese counterpart in order to formulate protective laws for fougriners and Nigerians in particular.
