An Armoured Personnel Carrier, (APC) of the police was fired at by the bandits on Friday night and was seen by locals the morning after on Saturday.. But the Security agencies have reported to the Kaduna State Government that fought the bandits back and have repelled them. The incident took place in Igabi local government area.
According to security agencies, the armed bandits ambushed troops and some operatives patrolling Rigasa-Link Road at Rugar Bello junction. While security forces rescued two persons, Sahabi Lawal and Dan Aliko, one Sani Khalil is still being reported missing.
The bandits were reported to have taken to their heels. Unfortunately, two civilians were caught up in the gun duel as stray bullets hit the two citizens driving from the Mando axis of the Rigasa-Link Road. Both were rushed to the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital. One of them, Rabiu Awwal died while afterwards while the second victim Umar El-Khattab is responding to treatment.
Governor Nasir El-Rufai has sent a condolence message to the deceased’s family and offered prayers for the repose of his soul.
The Governor wished the citizen recuperating a speedy recovery. The Governor also commended troops and police personnel that repelled the armed bandits and rescue of two citizens. The troops and police are still combing the area for remnants of the bandits.
