The Special Adviser to Atiku Abubaker on Youth and Support Groups Ambassador Aliyu Bin Abbas has reacted to the Supreme Court Decision that Jettisoned the Appeal of the PDP Presidential candidate in the 2019 Elections.
See Full Text of his reaction titled:
NIGERIA WILL SURVIVE EVERY DICTATORSHIP AND SUBTLE BLACKMAIL OF THE JUDICIARY.
The Supreme Court of Nigeria ought to be the last hope for any aggrieved person to get justice particularly when a miscarriage of justice is done at the lower courts.
But the way and manner the Supreme Court under Muhammad Tanko handled the appeal filed by Atiku Abubakar is nothing short of an aberration and proof that justice is dead in Nigeria, only waiting for burial.
As it stands, the worst thing that can happen to any politician is to entrust herself/ himself to INEC or the courts.
One must win at the polling stations and defend such victory at all costs.
Unless changes are made, only God knows the battle that awaits us in 2023.
A nation without an independent judiciary is a nation begging for anarchy , chaos and self-destruction.
We watched with disbelief the contrived charade at the Supreme Court, But the irony of it all is that some of the Nigerian youths who will bear the consequences of this judicial robbery, miscarriage of Justice and desecration of the bench at the Appeal court and the Supreme Court are applauding this judgment, a very unfortunate situation.
So far, Nigeria is the only country in the world where the young men and women applaud their oppressors.
The former CJN Ononghen was arbitrarily removed from office, we buried our heads in the sand like ostriches. He was given a bad name and was disgraced in public, we did nothing.
We have now all seen the reason why Ononghen was hurriedly removed and replaced with Muhammad Tanko.
In other countries of the world, youth are making strides to enforce change in the system and determine their destiny.
We watched with admiration how the youth in Lebanon recently forced their Prme Minister to resign for increasing tax. In Hong Kong, the youth are doing the same thing. In Venezuela, the youth take the lead to fight against poor economy and conditions of living under Nicolas Maduro.
In Algeria, young men and women took to the streets and successfully prevented the government of Abdelaziz Bouteflika from from contesting for a 5th term.
Just behind us in Sudan, we watched with awe how the young men and women withstood all the risk and brought down a brutal dictator in Omar Albashar.
All over the world, the youth are driving and pushing for genuine change, determining the direction and affairs of government and taking their destinies in their own hands.
I am not unmindful of the consequences and the risk involve in doing all those, but the young men and women of these countries followed this direction not to fight for any individual politician or a candidate of any party ; they chose to do it for themselves and their children because they are at the receiving end of every bad policies of government.
Now, what happens to the youth in Nigeria? Has it gotten to this level that we have all become very comfortable in poverty and misery in the face of poor governance and bad economy? Court orders are not being obeyed, we are comfortable.
Journalists are being arrested and thrown into jail at will and we are comfortable with it doing nothing. The judiciary has been caged, we are comfortable with it. Taxes are being increased here and there and we hide in our rooms complaining.
Opposing voices are being haunted down, we are doing nothing about it. Dadiyata is missing for about 90 days now, we are doing nothing about it. Kefas, Jalingo, Sowore, Abiri, I.G Wala in detention for months, among others are being maltreated and we are comfortable with it.
Don’t we think something fundamental is wrong with us? We must have a rethink and take our destiny in our hands to resist dictatorship in a civil manner and restore true democratic practice in our country.
I want to thank you all for giving in everything to support his excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to the end of this phase of struggle to get Nigeria working again.
Your votes and sacrifices have truly sent a strong message and I believe, if we come together not minding our tribes, religion or geographical location, we can achieve greatness in the future. But our first mission as Nigerian youths is to ensure that the government of Muhammadu Buhari sign into law the Electoral Act amendment passed by the 8th assembly, which he ought to have signed before the election, but was denied assent due to ”time constraint.” He has banned the importation of staple foods that kept us all from hunger but has not banned medical treatment abroad. He is in the United kingdom at the moment under the guise of “official visit”. It’s a monumental challenge that a whole nation with over 200 million people has no hospital to treat even ear infection of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Stay strong and resist every forces of evil in our nation. One day, we shall get it right.
God bless His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for being an everlasting democrat who lives for the welfare and wellness of the youths of Nigeria.
God bless the Nigerian youth.
God bless Nigeria.
