The Lagos state Ikoyi Prison is currently under attack as spate of violence continues in Lagos on Thursday
According to report, some hoodlums overpowered officials of the prison, in an attempt to free inmates.
It was gathered that the Hoodlums set the prison on fire while several scamper for safety.
Inmates are trying to break out of prison as there are gun shot been heard in the area.
Meanwhile, Policemen and soldiers have arrived at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre in a bid to foil an attempted jailbreak, Several inmates has also been reportedly shot.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, said the cause of the fire could not yet be ascertained but policemen had been deployed in the prisons.
“We don’t know the cause of the fire but we are there on the ground. We have mobilised to the place. We will give details later,” he said.
