Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney must isolate for 14 days after coming into close contact with a COVID-positive team-mate on international duty.
Scotland international Stuart Armstrong has been diagnosed with coronavirus, the Scottish FA confirmed, and Tierney’s close proximity to the midfielder means he began a two week period of self-isolation from yesterday.
A statement said: “The Scottish FA has been informed that Stuart Armstrong has returned a positive test for COVID-19.
“The midfielder returned a negative test for COVID-19 on arrival at Oriam on Monday but the supplementary UEFA test returned a positive result this morning.
“As a consequence, Kieran Tierney and Ryan Christie – along with one physiotherapist and one masseur – will require to self-isolate for 14 days as of yesterday, and will also miss the forthcoming matches.”
Tierney has won 13 caps for Scotland and has featured in three of Arsenal’s four Premier League games this season, missing the win over West Ham United with a minor groin injury.
