New Liverpool signing Diogo Jota has scored in his first Premier League game for his new club.
The Gunners had defeated Liverpool twice over the past two months and, like their hosts, entered this fixture with a perfect start, but Mikel Arteta’s men were unable to build on a lead gifted to them by Robertson 25 minutes in.
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers forward made his first Premier League appearance for the Reds tonight, helping his new side to a 3-1 win against Arsenal.
Jota replaced Mane after 80 minutes but just eight minutes later, he controlled the ball on his chest and fired into the bottom corner of Bernd Leno’s goal.
“Wow,” Jota told Sky Sports after the game. “It’s an amazing feeling, of course.
“I just wish it could be with the full stadium, that would be even more special, but I’m very pleased to help the team and the result was the most important, of course.
