Tottenham Hotspur are now leading the race to sign Sergio Reguilon on a permanent deal, according to David Ornstien of The Athletic.
The deal is not yet complete, but looks highly probable. Spurs were willing to include the buy-back clause — a clause Real Madrid were adamant about including and a clause which Manchester United refused to accept.
Jose Mourinho has been an admirer of Reguilon’s talents, as many will recall his positive comments regarding the Caternao after the infamous spring 2019 Clasico where Reguilon get in the face of both Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi.
“I say, from my perspective too, one of the players that could show that Real Madrid traditional desire to compete against Barcelona was another kid like Reguilon, who had a very good approach in both matches,” Mourinho said on Reguilon’s clasico performance while providing analysis for BEIN Sports.
