Governor of Zamfara state, Bello Matawalle, on Monday, presented to President Muhammadu Buhari some specimens of gold and other precious minerals mined from solid mineral deposits in the state.
President of Nigeria, Buhari received the gold bars and precious stones from Governor Bello, These minerals were mined in Zamfara.
Alhaji Bashir Hadejia accompanied the Governor to present them at the Presidential Villa.
Sharing photos of the minerals, Buhari Sallau, the president’s PA on Broadcast media disclosed the news.
He wrote:
“President Muhammadu Buhari last night at his residence, the State House, Abuja, received Governor of Zamfara State, Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle accompanied by Alhaji Bashir Hadejia.
Gov. Matawalle was at the State House to present some gold bars and other precious stones mined in his State.”
Ilegal Mining Activities In Zamfara was banned by the federal Government due to the inceccesant Killing in the state, But, The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Olamilekan Adegbite, on January 24, said plans were underway to re-start mining activities in the state.
According to the minister, the government plans to remove the ban by the end of the first quarter, in order to pave way for “genuine investors” who want to invest in the mines.
“The ban is about to be lifted because of a lot of genuine investors who want to come (to invest) into Zamfara state.”
“When the ban came into effect there were a lot of investors who were already putting in money had to stop… they are anxious to realise their investments.”
