Manchester United football club have now gone three consecutive seasons without a trophy for the first time in 31 years.
The Red Devils made the perfect start When Bruno Fernandes put them ahead from the penalty spot after nine minutes, United’s 22nd spot kick in all competitions this season.
However, Sevilla were level before half-time when Sergio Reguilon’s cross from the left was converted by former Liverpool forward Suso.
United tried all it’s best to put the ball through sevilla’s goal keeper but all efforts proved abortive.
As United’s effort proved futile, Sevilla substitute Luuk de Jong scored from close range with 12 minutes left to send the Spanish side through and ensure United reached a series of grim milestones.
The Red Devils in 2018 also lost to Sevilla in the Champions League last 16 in 2017-18 and Barcelona in the 2018-19 Champions League quarter-finals.
Defeat against Sevilla also means the Red Devils finish without a major trophy for a third season in a row – their longest run since four successive seasons without a major trophy between 1985 and 1989.
