The Federal government say it has begun implementing an expanded scope in its Trader Moni and Market Moni initiative across the country.
Minister for Humanitarian affairs and Disaster management Hajiya Sadiya Umar-Farouq said this in Lagos on Friday at the Government House Marina.
She said the President Muhammadu Buhari sees the nessesity as key to survival of many valuable Nigerians as a result of the Coronavirus Pandemic ravaging the world and threatening the very existence of Nigeria.
The parliatve measures according to her entails the release of 2 months of areas of the Market and Trader Moni as directed by the President.
Lagos Ogun and the FCT will benefit immediately from the parliative measures with the release of food stuff from the customs wherehouse as well.
SANWO-OLU RESPONDS:
The Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-olu who recieved the minister in hos response acknowledged the gesture of Predisent Buhari and said the release of the relief items will be appropriately disbursed.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said the relief will be channelled through the existing relief mechanism for the lockdown order of Mr. President and the State Government.
He thanked the Minister for the goodwill she has vested on the state while promissing support to the federal governments policies geared towards improving the lives of the people.
The Minister departed Lagos for Ogun state saying the next stop for states benefiting from the program is Ogun.
