A confirmed case of Coronavirus has been reported by officials of the city of Washington DC

According to the report, a Nigerian man is confirmed as  one of the two Coronavirus cases reported on Saturday.

The Rector at a historic Georgetown church in the city is the second man confirmed to be infected with the disease.

“D.C’s first coronavirus patient is a city resident and rector at Christ Church Georgetown, city and church officials said. He appears to have not traveled outside the United States,” D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser said. He was considered on Saturday a “presumptive positive.”

At this point, he appears to have no history of international travel and no close contacts with a confirmed case,” she said.

According to the NBC, the rector returned from a conference in Louisville Feb. 22 and participated in church services Feb. 23 before starting to feel sick the next day, the church said. He felt better Feb. 29, as he participated in a church retreat and participated in church services the next day.

On Tuesday he went to a doctor and was diagnosed with the flu, and Thursday he was diagnosed with pneumonia and admitted to the hospital, the church said. He was diagnosed with coronavirus Saturday.

The Mayor’s Office confirmed that the second patient is a man who traveled from Nigeria to D.C. He went to a Maryland hospital for treatment and remains there.

The Nigerian, according to the news agency has no previous international travel history.

Health officials in the city are trying to trace where he’s been in the area and who he may have had contact with, while his case is being transferred to the Centre for Disease Control.
