2 Killed 16 injured in Fatal Crash Along Lagos Abeokuta Express Way. FRSC

The Federal Road Safety Corp Ogun State Command has reported a multiple fatal crash involving 5 vehicles that resulted in the death of two persons. around the old Toll Gate Ota.

In a statement signed by the Superintendent Route Commander, department of Public Education FRSC Ogun State Command Florence Okpe, the accident which occured around the old Toll gate It’s just in front of the FRSC office at 5:38pm today saw 18 people including 16 adult Male and 2 Females injured.

Six people sustained serious injuries.

The statement further said that a total of five vehicles were involved in the crash; a blue IVECO Truck with vehicle registration number AAA214XL, a yellow volkswagon committee bus with registration number KJA 929XG, a yellow commutter bus with registration number KRD 835XU, a red Boxer Motorcycle with registration number DED064QG, and a red Bajaj Motocycle without a registration number.

The road safety officer attributed the accident to brake failure on the part of the truck heading towards Lagos, lossing control as the truck descended a slope at the old toll gate at Ota .

The FRSC explained that its Rescue Team on hearing the impact of the crash immediately rushed across from the Command to the crash scene and were able to rescue the injured victims to the Ota General Hospital, while the corpses of the two dead victims were deposited at the Ifo General Hospital.

The FRSC Sector Commander, Ogun State Command, Clement Oladele, commiserated with the victims of the crash and once again advised vehicle operators especially articulated vehicles to ensure their vehicles are in good condition before plying the roads .

The Sector Commander advised members of the public whose relations travelled in the ill-fated vehicles to contact the FRSC Command at Ota, or the two aforementioned hospitals for detailed information about the crash.
