A total of 1,633 new COVID-19 infections were recorded in Nigeria on Saturday, 23rd January 2021.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) revealed this in its daily update on Coronavirus via its official twitter page.
The fresh cases were reported in 20 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
A State-by-State analysis of the 1,633 cases revealed that Lagos State recorded the highest infections of the day with 498 cases, followed by Plateau which reported 214 and FCT-176.
Others are; Rivers (99), Kaduna (98), Edo (87), Anambra (86), Akwa Ibom (50), Osun (47), Kano (40), Oyo (40), Kwara (39), Ebonyi (28), Niger (28), Taraba (28), Ogun (27), Ondo (21), Ekiti (12), Katsina (7), Borno (6) and Delta (2).

According to NCDC’s data, five persons died of COVID-19 complications while 1,024 patients recovered and have been discharged from various isolation centres in the country.
“Our discharges today includes 573 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines.”
Till date, 120,602 cases have been confirmed in Nigeria; 95,901 recoveries and 1,502 fatalities.
