A former speaker of Edo state House of Assembly, Zakawanu Garuba, is dead.
Garuba, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who was speaker between 2007 and 2009, died at age of 54, in Abuja in the early hours of Saturday, July 18, after a brief undisclosed illness.
Born on 23 August 1965, in Akpekpe community, Auchi, in Etsako West Local Government Area of the state, Garuba studied Law at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State and was called to Bar in 1990.
