Agbani Darego became the first and only African and black woman to win the Miss world beauty paegent in 2001.
An Abonnema native Darego was born in Lagos to a family of eight children and she was sixth out of them. At age two, her family relocated to Port-harcourt where she was raised
Agbani was born in the mid 80s, unfortunately she lost her mother just few year after moving to federal government college.
Agbani initially finds it difficult to cope with the loss of her mother who had introduced her into the fashion industry through her boutique business, but she was determined to keep the memories and legacy of her mother alive by becoming successful.
After her secondary education, she gained admission into University of Port Harcourt, where she continued to combine education with fashion.
Things changed for the beauty queen after emerging as the most beautiful girl in Nigeria and she subsequently won the world crown a year later.
Due to her busy work schedule as Miss World, Darego left University of Port Harcourt and moved to New York where she signed a multi million dollar deal with Next Model Management and Ford Models.
She also signed a three-year contract with L’Oreal and worked with foreign and local brands, like world-famous designers; Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Oscar de la Renta, Marc Bouwer, and Gianfranco Ferre. The beauty queen also graced the covers of popular magazines like Elle, Cosmopolitan, Mary Claire, etc.
She later continued her education by enrolling in the University of New York to study Psychology and graduated in May 2012.
In April 2017, Darego married her longtime partner Ishaya Danjuma, son of billionaire General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma in a ceremony held in Marrakesh, Morocco’s finest city
Ishaya Danjuma is a fashion entrepreneur and he’s multi-millionaire businessman who is actively involved in his family businesses.
Darego and her husband welcomed their first child in September 2018 in the United Kingdom.
Agbani Darego, currently heads her fashion company that specializes in the production of ready-to-wear denim and leisurewear.
Once a beauty queen always a beauty queen goes the saying, and this is so true about the beautiful Agbani Darego.
However there have been some worrying reports about the new look of the former Miss World, but latest photos proved Agbani Darego, still a hot queen.
